Auction Representation

Buying at Auction

Scott Lindquist attends most major shows and currency auctions in the US and one to three a year overseas. For a small fee of 5%* of the hammer price Scott will examine the items you are interested in, and provide an opinion of the grade and estimated value. For this small fee Scott will give you his decades of expertise, discuss the individual items, guide you in all the details of the auction and exercise your bids from the floor. If you don’t win the lot(s) you pay nothing. If you are successful you pay the small fee plus the usual shipping charges. If you are tired of getting edged out by half a bidding increment, or less, when bidding on line or via the mail, this service gives you the same advantages of the other floor bidders without the expense of your physical attendance. *( with a minimum of $1000 of successful bids, lesser amounts will be charged a 10% rate of the hammer)

The advantages of this service over your other bidding methods, if you cannot attend, are numerous.

No more losing lots to a cut bid of $20 or less.

No need to incur travel and lodging expenses only to go home empty handed. I have seen many collectors overpay for this reason alone

No more losing a lot at your bid to another bidder. When instructed by you to cut bid, (offering half the current increment), you will win the lot or at least make the over bidder pay the full increment over your highest bid.

No more not knowing why you were outbid. Even if you do not win I can tell you who did or at least whether it was a phone, mail (book), internet or floor bidder whom I will physically identify to you if possible. Remember if you don’t win the lot you pay absolutely nothing.

Selling at Auction

Whether you are buying or selling via auction, Scott’s decades of auction bidding and experience working with auction companies like Smythe can be yours for a small percentage fee.

1. We will help you pick the appropriate auction company and the venue where the auction is held.

2. We will assist you with all the negotiations with the auction company to assure you of the best possible result.

3. Help set reserves and give you up to the day market information to estimate expectations and results.

You can rest easy that your or your loved ones’ collection is in the appropriate hands to maximize the price realized. After all you should receive the rewards for decades spent accumulating a fine collection. Make certain you reap the benefits not the auction company or its clients buying at half the real value or less because of bad geographic location, scheduling conflicts or slipshod cataloging with no reserves. We look forward to guiding you through the world of auctions and putting all our experience at your fingertips.

“Scott – wasn’t able to open the file (too large?), but also am happy with the results and your efforts in helping me with the sale. You were always straightforward, attentive, and consistent during the entire process, and it has certainly been a pleasure working with you. In the future, if I ever have dealings in the numismatic area, I hope to be able to call on you as an advisor and representative. In a market where trust is of the utmost importance, you rank at the very top!

Thanks again!
